According
to a report by CNET, 23 percent of iPhone users have broken, smashed,
or cracked screens; the average length of time people put up with a
cracked iPhone screen is reportedly six months. Most people refuse to
have their iPhones fixed because their AppleCare policies have
expired, while out-of-warranty replacements can get pretty pricy.
However, you can always find a third-party repair provider that
offers fair pricing.
Just
be careful with the company that you choose, though, and always keep
in mind that if it's too good to be true, it most likely is.
According to an article on the iMore website, some companies offer
repair services for as low as $40 to $50; this is a red flag since
the parts used for the screen may not be authentic. Always do a
thorough background check on the company by visiting their website,
and see if they feature testimonials or reviews from previous
customers.
Check
out reviews from a third-party consumer review website, but use your
instinct to determine if the reviews were planted by either the
company itself or the manufacturer. You can usually tell since
reviews tend to be either overly positive or negative. Angie's List
is a good consumer review site since the reviews are verified and
relatively reliable.
